Donald Flather Artwork Exhibitions: Vancouver Art Gallery

  
     
 

Dr. DM (Donald McIntosh) Flather had one of his original paintings (as well as one of his pieces of pottery) selected from hundreds of submissions and was featured during the Juried 18th Annual BC Artists Exhibitions at the Vancouver Art Gallery Museum held between October 8 to October 30, 1949.

A Jury Show

Donald's Painting titled "Vistangulata" is shown below on line 21. This is an interesting oil on canvas painting of Donald's in that it is a landscape painting using only straight lines. The subject is a body of water with sunlight showing through clouds with landscape - possibly from the BC Coast's Howe Sound Inlet. In addition, on line 117, DM Flather had one of his pieces of pottery titled "Vase for Pink Flowers" exhibited. See Donald's Biography page for a few examples of his pottery.

Additional BC Artists Lawren Harris together with his Wife, Bess Harris also had one of their paintings in this Art Show - see lines 27 and 28. Lawren Harris's "South Peak, Mount Victoria" is listed for sale at only $750.00!

B.C Binning on line 7 had his painting titled "Fanciful Seascape in Primary Colours" exhibited and was listed for only $500.00!

EJ Hughes also had a painting titled "Farm Near Courtenay" exhibited on line 36 and it is listed for sale at only $275.00!
