Shown
here is the famous Siwash Rock formation jutting up
from the shallow waters beside Vancouver's famous Stanley
Park Seawall. This is located on the West side of the
park and shown here is what looks to be a beautiful
Summer setting sun.
This
painting likely comes from Donald's sought after "Coastal
BC Paintings Series" that Donald painted between
the 1930's and 1978.
The setting
is in Vancouver's Stanley Park adjacent to the Seawall
that circles this iconic park. Interestingly, David
Flather's Great Grandfather (from his Mother's side),
James Cunningham, has a placque dedicating his life's
work embedded on the rock face of the Seawall adjacent
to Siwash Rock. Great Grandpa Cunningham was the Master
Stonemason that led the construction of Vancouver's
famous Stanley Park Seawall - dedicating some 32 years
of his life to laying the thousands and thousands of
granite stones that make up the Seawall.
