A beautiful
mountain landscape painting of the Scimitar Glacier
in the Summertime featuring flowing glacial ice and
Donald's stylized mountainsides between Mt. Tiedmann
and Mt. Waddington.
Donald's
bold use of blue colours accurately depicts this striking
mountain scene. Dr. DM Flather was known to have had
a photographic memory and was able to both accurately
recall and accurately depict colours from the many beautiful
scenes in nature that he visited on his painting and
sketching trips.
On the
backside of this painting Donald has written:
CO#16
RADIANT GLACIER
SCIMITAR GLACIER
and along the top "MT. TIEDMANN 12,800 ft. and
MT. WADDINGTON 13,200 ft."
This
painting comes from Donald's highly collectible and
sought after "Coastal BC Paintings Series"
that Donald worked on from the 1930's to 1978.
