This is an important small landscape painting of Donald's featuring a small Rocky Mountain lake reflecting the surrounding trees as well as the Rocky Mountains in the background. This oil on canvas painting is most likely to be catalogued in his "Purcell, Selkirk and Rocky Mountain Series". The painting combines many of the elements that Donald is known for including water/ mountains/ sky, excellent perspective, flowing glaciers and effective use of light. It also comes from his highly sought after early career period.
