Painting Title: Cliffside Pine Skaha Lake

Artist: Dr. DM (Donald McIntosh) Flather, FCA

Painting Size: 5" x 7"

Painting Materials: Oil on board

Painting Date: Circa 1930's to 1940's
Description:

This framed original oil on board painting is the smallest rendition of several paintings of the same tree on the side of the Okanagon's Skaha Lake painted by DM Flather. Shown here is a photo of the backside of the painting - which is of interest to many Collectors.

This oil painting features a somewhat famously known scraggly pine tree on the shore of Skaha Lake, BC. Made famous from a CPR passenger rail brochure printed in the early 1900's that showed this tree along the beautiful Skaha Lake hillside. Unfortunately, the tree was apparently cut down by mistake by railway maintenance crews at some time after Donald spotted it.

This painting comes from Donald's popular "Okanagon Lake Area BC Paintings Series" that Donald painted circa 1953 and prior.

Additional:

At the time David Flather took the photograph of this painting it was in its original frame and original condition. A visit to the art Conservators for a mild cleaning would really brighten up the painting.
